Mireia Gascón is coordinating the community interventions research for BlueHealth. Since joining the project in 2016, Mireia has focused on improving scientific understanding of the health impacts of the built environment and transport planning.
Mireia started by conducting epidemiological studies on both occupational (Costa Rica – MSc project) and population-based studies (Spain – PhD). During her PhD, she focused on estimating the impact of pre-and postnatal exposures to chemicals on child health, participating in several epidemiological projects.
Since 2019, Mireia has been coordinating ISGlobal’s postnatal follow-up of the birth cohort “Barcelona Life Study Cohort (BiSC)” to uncover the impacts of prenatal exposure to air pollution on children’s neurodevelopment and other health outcomes.
