Theo van Alphen is a leading expert in improving healthy living in both urban and rural environments.
Working at the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) in the Netherlands, Theo advises on the development of rapid assessment methodologies and tools to include contributions from citizens and local stakeholders. He is also using this expertise to inform the development of new BlueHealth processes and products.
Theo has an MSc degree in Sociology from Utrecht University and a Master’s degree in Public Health from the Netherlands School of Public and Occupational Health. His breadth of experience and scientific knowledge in public and curative health, mental health, environment and teaching, spans across the Netherlands, Portugal, Namibia, Guiné Bissau, Georgia and Uzbekistan.
