Ronald Laarmaa is Junior Researcher in the Centre for Limnology at the Estonian University of Life Sciences.
His studies in the field of limnology began as bachelor student in 2010. Ronald has been dealing with evaluation of the ecological quality of Estonian lakes since 2013. and has worked on several applied projects concerning lake ecology and restoration.
Ronald’s main interest is ecological quality, specifically using indicator values of metazoan plankton.
In the BlueHealth project, Ronald is developing a tool for assessing the environmental quality of blue spaces. This tool is being developed for both experts and public members use in the evaluation of aquatic sites.
Since 2014 he has been involved in national hydrobiological monitoring of Estonian small lakes as a zooplankton specialist. Currently, he is developing an assessment methodology for Estonian lakes to assess ecological quality of metazooplankton.
