BlueHealth has launched a bespoke online tool designed specifically to support the effective planning and design of urban blue spaces.

Led by researchers at the WHO Regional Office for Europe, the Decision Support Tool (DST) is the first tool designed to help local decision makers assess blue spaces, with a focus on health and wellbeing.

Designed and developed by the Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change Foundation (CMCC Foundation), the DST is an important part of the BlueHealth Toolbox and can be accessed online and applied to different urban and rural blue spaces.

James Grellier, BlueHealth’s Project Manager, said: “This is a really useful tool that draws on insights from BlueHealth’s research, surveys and reviews of different blue spaces across Europe. Through providing evidence-based information, we hope the DST will help users to support decision making at a local level, highlighting ways to maximise benefits and minimise risks to both health and the environment.”

Find out how to access and use the DST here.
